Here is a list of events that we consider "standard" for each year with a brief description for each.
Back to School Pool Party
Skate Party @ the Starlight Skatium (late Sept / early Oct)
Trunk or Treat
Christmas Parties
Gymnastics Joe's (February)
Fayetteville Egg Drop
Back to School Pool Party
- We rent out the Springdale Aquatic Center from 7pm-9pm on a Friday / Saturday right before school starts. We have a pizza party in the city park next to the aquatic center at 6pm. Everyone from Pathway and Thrive are invited. Last year we had over 100 people.
- This event is designed to quickly introduce people. A take on "speed dating", individuals our couples break into two groups, split down the middle by who has been at Pathway the longest. There will be enough tables to have 2 groups at each. The groups that have been here the longest each find a table, all sitting on the back side. The newer groups then find a table to start at. Every 3 minutes a buzzer will sound and the newer groups must rotate clockwise to the next table. There will be a list of questions you each answer at every rotation. A quiz will be made of your answers. The groups that score the highest (overall prize, 2nd place, newcomers prize) will be rewarded -- anything from a night in a bed and breakfast to free movie tickets. Meal served beforehand and childcare provided.
Skate Party @ the Starlight Skatium (late Sept / early Oct)
- We reserve the whole place for a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. Snacks provided. Usually costs $5 each. Everyone from Pathway and Thrive invited.
Trunk or Treat
- While we do invite a lot of guests we use this as more of a church function where people invite friends rather than something we promote heavily. That said, we had around 150 people in 2012. We block off part of the parking lot where people set up their "trunks" as a place to hand out candy to the kids dressed up in their costumes. Then the Hazens (couple who own the surrounding fields) have hayrides for the kids. We finish off the night with a hamburger / hot dog cookout and a bonfire on the church property.
Christmas Parties
- A big church-wide party that we're looking to possibly split into two because of size. But it is fun to have everyone together. Lots of group and individual games.
Gymnastics Joe's (February)
- We rent out the gymnastics center in the NWA Mall that has trampolines, a huge foam pit, and other things the kids can play with.
Fayetteville Egg Drop
- This event is held the Saturday before Easter at the Washington County Fairgrounds. We expect over 2,000 people to attend. We provide various inflatable games / bounce houses for the kids and then drop 40,000 candy filled Easter eggs out of a helicopter.
